One of the most beautiful cities on the Oregon Coast, Pacific City is still unknown to many Portland residents. From fishing to whale watching to art galleries to beach combing there are numerous ways to stay busy year round. Check out the official Pacific City website for more information.

Directions: Take 26W to Highway 6 outside of Hillsboro. Follow Highway 6 to Tillamook, then turn south and follow 101 for about 22 miles until you see the Pacific City turnoff. (About 2 hours total.) Click here for a map.

Road Trip – Angels Rest

I’ve had many requests from new Portland residents for recommendations on day trips around the Portland area. Every month I’ll send you information on one of my favorite destinations. Please e-mail me with any questions or suggestions…

Angels Rest

One of the most beautiful hikes in the western Gorge is Angels Rest. With a distance of 4.4 miles roundrip and 1500 feet in elevation gain, this trail is classified as moderate difficulty and took us about 3 hours, with a break for lunch on top. During the lower half you will climb through forests along a creek before opening up to a breathtaking 270 degree view of the Columbia Gorge.
To reach the trailhead head Eastbound on I-84 Take Bridal veil exit # 28. The trailhead is south of the Historic Columbia River Highway, opposite the junction with the interstate access road in Bridal veil.
